DESCRIPTION:The Oregon Pickleball Tournament at Pickleball Kingdom was an incredible success\, bringing together community members\, sponsors\, and pickleball enthusiasts for a day of fun and purpose. Thanks to the collective effort of over 20 generous sponsors and more than 100 dedicated players and volunteers\, the event raised an impressive $38\,000+ in support of Portland Housing Center and Relief Nursery.\n\nThroughout the tournament\, the energy was high both on and off the courts\, with participants competing\, connecting\, and rallying around a shared mission—to make a meaningful difference in the community. From first serves to final matches\, the event showcased not only great athleticism but an even greater sense of generosity and teamwork.\n\nThe funds raised will directly support critical services provided by Portland Housing Center and Relief Nursery\, helping families build stability\, access resources\, and thrive.\n\nThank you to everyone who participated\, volunteered\, and sponsored this event. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors\, players\, and volunteers\, the event raised an impressive $39\,069 to benefit three outstanding local nonprofit organizations serving the greater Chicago community. \n\nSupporting Local Impact\nThis year’s proceeds will directly support the missions of:\n\n\nPhil’s Friends \n Inspired by founder Phil Zielke’s personal cancer journey\, Phil’s Friends provides care packages\, Cards of Hope\, and meaningful connections to cancer patients across the United States through hospital visits\, prayer\, and encouragement.\n\nNorthern Illinois Food Bank \n Committed to ending hunger\, the Northern Illinois Food Bank partners with food pantries\, soup kitchens\, and mobile markets to provide both perishable and non-perishable food to our most vulnerable neighbors—ensuring access with dignity and compassion. \n\nDuPagePads \n Focused on ending homelessness\, DuPagePads goes beyond immediate needs by providing case management\, life coaching\, and employment support to individuals and families—empowering long-term stability and independence.\n\n\n A Day of Community & Connection\n The inaugural event brought together golfers\, business partners\, and community leaders who shared a commitment to strengthening their community. From tee-off to the awards reception\, the day was filled with energy\, camaraderie\, and a shared commitment to making a difference. \n\nHeld at one of Chicagoland’s premier golf destinations\, the course offered both a fun and competitive experience for players of all skill levels\, while creating meaningful opportunities to build relationships and support local causes.
