SUMMARY:Project Koru donation drive to support young adults with cancer
DESCRIPTION:Sam Cunard\, a IT technical architect at Guild Mortgage\, had a fundraising drive to raise money for Project Koru. Though he has raised money for this cause in the past\, his wife\, a cancer survivor\, inspired him to go even bigger with a new goal in 2024 to help support young adults impacted by cancer.\n\nProject Koru is best defined as part water sport festival\, part chaos and all fun.\n\n“I got involved with KB4C\, an incredible charity event\, organized by Project Koru\, because of the profound impact it has on the lives of adult cancer survivors\,” explains Sam. “Last year\, I participated in KB4C and raced in honor of my wife’s aunt\, who bravely fought and triumphed over breast cancer. It was a powerful experience\, and this year\, my motivation is even stronger. I’m racing for my sister’s father-in-law\, who is currently battling stage four pancreatic cancer. Despite the challenges he faces\, I see his strength and determination\, and I know he will soon join the ranks of cancer survivors.”

SUMMARY:Breakfast with a Purpose with TACO
DESCRIPTION:On Wednesdays\, Guild Mortgage corporate employee teams serve more than just coffee and pastries\, they bring warmth and a smile to many homeless individuals in downtown San Diego by supporting TACO\, the Third Avenue Charitable Organization. Some also became “personal shoppers” for these community members visiting the clothing table and sharing their needs\, the team helped them find the perfect fit to help them feel more secure and confident.\n\nThe recent clothing drive at the Guild Mortgage corporate office brought in more than 20 bags of clothing\, which were folded and organized over their last two volunteer visits. A big THANK YOU to everyone who cleaned out their closet in this effort. We truly have made a difference.\n\nThird Avenue Charitable Organization is more than a place\, it’s a community drawn together to support the dignity\, health\, and well-being of those experiencing homelessness and poverty. Our mission with these small acts of kindness is simple: to make a positive impact\, one meal\, one conversation\, and one warm jacket a time.\n\nPictured: Jennifer Russell\, Kriselle Crane\, Griffin Meyers\, Maribel Krohn\, Hannah Nunez\, and Angelina Villanueva
